Today on the Indie Author Spotlight at the Seventh Star Blog, we are proud to feature horror author Jeremy L. Richard, aka JLR-Writer! Jeremy has a new novel out this year, 2 Pray: Part 2: Lilith’s Return, and we invite you to learn more about Jeremy, his writing, and his new book in this interview!

How would you describe your writing style to a reader who has never read your work before?

I aim to write with a TV-show or Movie like feel.

What genres are you published in, and what do you like most about writing in those genres?

Christian horror is my genre. I enjoy the challenge of creating Christian thrillers. It’s the road less traveled, but the reward is significant.

Are there any genres that you would like to explore that you have not yet been published in?  If so, then what interests you about potentially writing in those genres?

At the moment, I can’t see myself writing for another genre

Tell us about your latest release.

The latest release is my 3rd  book named 2pray part two, “Lilith’s return.”

The Linwood family escaped a demonic encounter three years ago. Only to fall back in the danger zone

But now they have a three-year-old daughter who is at risk.

What are you currently working on, in terms of your works in progress?

I’m working on my next big project named “The Inimical” the name explains itself (super excited)

What do you personally find most challenging about the craft of writing?

Not trying to rush (lol); my mind can become like wild horses at times. Other than that, I enjoy

Every aspect of the art of writing, the good and the challenging times!

What do you view to be your strengths when it comes to writing?

I have a strong imagination, an endless library of book ideas.

Tell us a little about your path to becoming a writer, including when you decided to pursue writing with a goal of becoming published and what initially drew you toward writing and storytelling.

Honestly, I had no idea I would become an author, but when I was a child, I had a deep love for improv and randomly told scary stories verbally. But my path started when my sister died back in 2015. I started writing poetry to heal my broken heart. Then the passion grew; the storytelling art returned to my life. I wasn’t happy working the nine to five rat race. So I felt I had more to offer and ended up going to bible college, and the birth of Christian horror entered my life!

What do you find to be some of the biggest hurdles in being a writer today?

Getting yourself out there, engaging, and trying to get your books inside stores

What do you see as the most important advice you could offer a new writer?

Find and keep your unique voice! Don’t try to copy other authors. And make sure you love what you do; even when you only sell 2 books, there will be ups and downs, but if you love what do; and keep the focus on your goal… this will never feel like work. My heart race every time I sit at my writing desk; I love the writer’s life!!!

Synopsis of 2 Pray: Part 2: Lillith’s Return:

It’s been three years since the demonic nightmare Marcus and Stacy Linwood had to endure. They barely escaped with their lives due to the demonic attacks cast upon them by Marcus’s longtime best friend, Rock.

Since then, the Linwoods welcomed a baby girl named Ava-Jean to the world, and things are going great. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Lilith is back, and she wants, more than anything, to destroy the Linwoods, and Rock resurfaced, and he’s making sure his threat three years ago wasn’t a dry one.

“It’s not over.”

JLR-Writer, the author of 2Pray, is back with part two.

Enjoy this deep adventure, and don’t forget to pray at night.
