Tell us what your new novel Min Eurozan is about.
Min Eurozan tells the story of Judin, a woman from Earth, who falls in love with one man who has five iterations of himself.
Did you envision it as the first book of The Elorcuian Chronicles when you began writing Min Eurozan? If not, when did you decide to develop it into a series?
No. The characters took on a life of their own, and with the introduction of another iteration of the male lead, became more than I ever imagined.
How many books are you projecting there to be in The Elorcuian Chronicles?
There are six novels in The Elorcuian Chronicles.
Were there any unique challenges in writing a romance story with elements of another genre, in this case science fiction?
There aren’t any unique challenges as the sky was the limit with the imagination of who, what, when, where, and why. The characters really direct where the story goes. I just sit back and write what I’m given.
Are there any other speculative fiction genres that you would enjoy exploring in a romance setting like you did in Min Eurozan?
I’m currently writing a ghost romance in the vein of Edgar Allan Poe for an anthology.
If you were advising a new romance writer, what do you find to be the most important elements to focus on when writing a story?
Feelings. I want to know how the two principal characters fall in love. For me, the love they declare for one another is endgame.
Tell us a little about your writing process. Do you have a similar process for each new book and series?
My writing process is whatever the book/series wants. I flow pretty easily in writing a manuscript for print. Sometimes I plot-ish a book, like the Written Series, and sometimes I type and the words come alive under my fingertips.
What are the biggest challenges in being a writer today?
Everything that comes with having to do-it-yourself. Time is huge and finding the balance between work and home life is challenging. As an Indie author, I do a lot of the work myself as far as promotion for each book I write. It’s a privilege to write, and I wouldn’t trade the gift for anything.
Have you planned your next writing projects? And if so, what are you going to be working on this year?
I’ve three manuscripts in progress as I answer these questions. The aforementioned ghost romance, a Christian Rockstar romance, and sweet Christian romance.
What piece of advice do you have for newer writers that you wish someone gave you when you started out?
Be patient and have fun! This ride will be crazy, but so worth it!
In what areas do you think you have grown most as a writer since your first published work?
Patience in my writing, more outgoing as a person, and I’ve got to meet the coolest people.
